LINK Associates

Parents, families, carers and professionals can join AYME Link Associates and receive a concise bi-monthly news bulletin with information on research, education, national news, parent issues, and updates on AYME's activities. Later in 2004 there will be a LINK-only message board on the AYME web site for Link Associates to use as an information and support network.

The money raised by Link (£20 annual subscription) will enable AYME to continue to offer free membership to children and young people with ME wherever they live in the UK, whatever their circumstances. If you want to join Link Associates, you can download a membership form.

In the most recent issue of LINK:

  • AYME's survey results give unique picture of life with ME
A unique picture of the quality of life and the struggles faced by children and young people with ME and their families has been revealed in a survey completed by AYME members.
  • RCPCH Spring Conference - A thirst for information
300 paediatricians from all over the UK attended the Spring Conference of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) symposium on ME. Speakers included AYME's Jill Moss, Prof Tony Pinching and directors from the Department of Health and RCPCH.
  • Research with AYME
AYME is presently supporting or involved in several pieces of different research, which will be discussed over the next few issues of Link. This issue we look at researching the impact that the AYME message board has on the lives of children with ME and the genetic research being undertaken by the CFS Research Foundation.
  • Essential Pre-16 Education Toolkit
There are four education documents that are essential reading for young people with ME who are of compulsory school age and their parents. They make up the 'toolkit' most often used for the AYME education advice line.
  • Free prescriptions for eligible ME patients
  • Bath & Bristol CFS/ME Services bid
  • North East Focus CFS/ME Services bid
