Stephanie McIntosh

AYME was recently contacted by Lucy Heyman, a previous member of AYME who is now recovered and works for a management company. She kindly asked if we would be interested in interviewing Stephanie McIntosh. Stephanie is best known for her role as Sky Mangel in Neighbours. She has recently released an album, Tightrope in the UK. She answered some questions for AYME on the way to an appearance for Big Brother’s Big Mouth, summer 2007.

Tell us a bit about your first single, 'Mistake'
It went Gold in the first week of release in Australia! Only joking, it’s a pop/rock song with a good story.

How would you describe your album?
Pop/rock! Unpredictable!

How did you make the change from acting to singing?
It was never a change! I’ve been singing my whole life, Neighbours just came first!

Do you miss Neighbours?
I don’t miss it but I’ll often think about it. I miss ‘Sky’!

How are you finding London?
Pretty cool, it’s growing on me. I’m not in love with it yet!

What are your ambitions for the future?
I have many for both acting and singing. I would love to crack the U.S and do films in Hollywood and would love nothing more than to take my music with me and do the same with it over there! Then one day if course have a family! Not now though!

When you're going through a difficult time what helps you get through?
A bit of a cry! Why not, you have to let it out somewhere! Music, I like to listen to uplifting music when I’m down too! The best situation is playing it while you’re driving, get in the car after you’ve had a cry and just get away!

Had you heard of ME before this interview?
I’ve been through it myself! So I’ve definitely heard about it. Had a very hard year 3-4 years ago while I was on Neighbours, and it was very full on and I was quite sick but I’m here and working hard. So have faith everyone!
